Jennifer Lawrence is Finger-Flickin' Good!

I'm baa-aack! That was a terrible, college long break from my glorious blogosphere. Anyways, is anyone as obsessed with Jennifer Lawrence as I am? From Mystique, to Katniss, to Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook, this girl has got it all. She completely deserved that gold man on Oscar night. Her performance with B. Coop was so raw and beautiful. She's one of those people that doesn't care what others think of them. To top it all off, she is hilarious! Wow, sorry for the major girl crush going on right now.

This kick-ass 22 year old's first dress was a dashing Dior. I loved how simple and elegant it was, paired with her classy middle finger. I feel as though it wouldn't have been a proper Jennifer Lawrence production if she hadn't tripped while getting her award. It was almost like Lena Dunham's shameful walk in heels at the Globes. They're too busy being amazing actresses to be truly concerned with their public images. You won't see these two on a reality TV show any time soon! Lena is a whole 'nother girl crush I will touch upon later. Back to J.Law, I secretly was hoping that that gown was for a surprise red carpet wedding with Bradley Cooper..

She's clearly saying, "I do!" Right!? I could gush about this woman all day, but I will cease and leave you with this video of her backstage at the Oscars:

That's the DL! xoxo

Mineral Veil: Unveiling the Truth

Hi babies! I've been very M.I.A. lately because of school work yada-yada, my apologies! However, no amount of studying could stop me from informing/venting to you about my latest discovery. As you know, I have problematic skin.. sad-face, but whatevs, over it! I am so drugged up on acne medicine that I no longer have to worry about new zits every day. Okay, okay, the occasional MONTHLY breakout of about one or two pimples does occur.

BUT -- when my skin starts randomly erupting with the Rocky Mountains and spreads across my entire face?!?!!?!! There must be an outside variable responsible for this nonsense!

Enter the unspeakable.

No, not my atrocious under-eye circles. My beloved Bare Escentuals :'( ...the horror. I'm a die-hard Bare Minerals junkie because their foundation doesn't irritate my acne. I just recently started using their Mineral Veil to keep my skin shine-free during the hot weather. Alas, two weeks later and I'm noticing the acne starting to form.

So I looked at the ingredients -- CORN STARCH. Such a no-no. Cheap filler alert! Corn starch is a breeding ground for bacteria when it gets moist. No freakin' bueno.

So acne-prone babies beware.. I know I personally will be getting rid of this product. Shine-free skin is not worth the underlying zits! I wouldn't be putting the blame so harshly if it was normal for me to break out this badly. Le sigh.. that is the unfortunate DL.

Drugstore Steal -- Milani Liquid Eyeliner

Hi babies! So as you may or may not know, I work at Ulta. Hence, I am surrounded with high quality, beautiful makeup each and every day. If I had my way, I would buy every product that BareMinerals and Smashbox have on the shelf. However, *le sigh* broke college student. Lower quality it is!

Despite my discount at Ulta, I am like a magnet when it comes to the makeup aisles at drugstores. It's fun for me. It's like digging for buried treasure, I know there must be a good product in there somewhere! The risky buys are always the liquid eyeliners -- you never know what you're gonna get. My best friend just bought an E.L.F. liquid eyeliner. She took it out of package, and it was already dried out! Worst one dollar bill she's ever spent I'm sure ;)

Well guess what babies?! I struck gold at CVS!

Please excuse how grumpy I look -- long night! Milani Infinite Liquid Eyeliner Waterproof in 05 Everlast (that's code for black!) is the name and dayum does it stay put! It's a brush tip, thank the good lord above! I hate felt tips, they're impossible for me :( & it's the blackest-blackest-black. Like picture a black tire, painted black, floating in a pool of black oil, on the darkest night of the year. Yes. Oh, and even after I scrub with face wash it's still there. Kind of annoying but I love it!

And it's $6.50.
Why are you still sitting at your computer?! Go, go, go!

Hehe :) xoxo

Feather Frenzy

Hi pretties! Ready for a cool, bohemian trend for summertime? Feather hair extensions! I'm bursting with excitement because I just got mine done last week.

You have options of getting natural/colored and chunky/thin. I got two chunky natural feathers (only one is showing) at my hair salon for $12 each! The best part is you can straighten them, curl, or wash, and they're totally fine. The hair stylist said they last for about a month or so. Perfect for the last few weeks before school starts!

I actually want to get more soon.. I'm a feather addict, oh no! Check out Jen Love Hewitt lookin' so fly with her colored feathers! ;)

DISCLAIMER : My hair stylist let me know that for the bleach blondies out there (aka me) the colored feathers can actually bleed onto your hair! Green hair?! No gracias! So stick with au naturales ;-*

That's the DL for now!
Bye loves!

Snape, Snape, Severus Snape

Did anyone else notice the blatant, dark grey eyeshadow on Severus Snape in HP7 part dos? Harry Potter and the Drag Queen Hallows?

This is the only picture I could find that showed it, because I don't think he was wearing it in the other movies. Fail HP7 makeup artist, total fail. But I still love him by the end of that film! No spoilers though, don't worry.

It's so awkward once you notice it. Poor Snape-y.

Tarte for True Blood Collection

I don't know about you guys, but I'm SO pumped for the new True Blood Collection by Tarte. I love Tarte in general because of their natural products and silky texture, but I'm ADDICTED to True Blood! Uhm, who else is in love with Eric this season?! Cutest vamp EVER, I'm so glad they gave him a haircut! Bill is making me mad lately, let's talk about last episodes "incest"! Ugh. Anyways, back to the makeup!

Tarte is launching three products, and they're in Ulta's backroom right now!

Tarte for True Blood Limited Edition Palette - $52
The packaging feels leathery and those corset strings are real -- yes I held it in my hands, eeeek! The names of the eyeshadows are the best too. The Light, Fairy, Dusk, Dawn, Werewolf, Waitress, Nocturnal, Charmer, Glamour Me, Stake, Bayou, Telepath, The True Death, Immortal, Moss, Legend, and "V." "V" is my favorite, a dark red of course! It also comes with an eye primer, black liner, and mascara. Swoon.

Tarte for True Blood Limited Edition Natural Cheek Stain - $30
Big Surprise! It's red! And sparkly (how Twilight-y). Tarte's cheek stains are VERY good if you want that dewy look because they have a lot of moisture in them. You can just dab this baby on the apples of your cheeks and blend a little -- Voila! I would definitely wear this for a sweet, summer look with my tan -- or to liven up a dull, winter complexion. Tres cute.

Tarte for True Blood Limited Edition LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint - $24
Mmm, minty and moisturizing! This lip tint is in a crayon form, so it's super easy to apply to your lips. Again, red and sparkly. I'm a little obsessed lately with red lips (that and purple!) so this product is on my wish list! One of the best things about Tarte is that it doesn't have fragrance, parabens, or phthalates. Au naturale, just like the chemistry between Eric and Sookie!

That's all the DL for now!

Lip Stains - Stash or Trash?

Hi pretties! After a long M.I.A. session of summer school and starting work, I'm back to dish out the latest down low :} Now, when I look for a lip color, I want something that will last! I hate having to reapply, reapply, reapply -- especially if I'm at work. Can't there be a lipstick that stays all day!? Or at least longer than half an hour?

Presenting, LIP STAINS! Now, I'm sure you have heard of these products which tint your lips for a long period of time. The question is, which ones actually work and which ones are crap? HelloOo, not trying to buy something that doesn't do the job! Have no fear lovies! Here are the products to stash.. and ones you can trash.

We'll start with the ones to leave for the garbage men.
TRASH

CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain - $7
Crap if I've ever seen it! Okay, I actually bought this product hoping that it would deliver the lovely stain that it advertises. Uhm, no. Firstly, the color lasts about.. hmm.. twenty minutes? That doesn't sound very stain-y to me! Okay, so I could use it as a lip color even if it doesn't last, right? Wrong. It applies like a marker, which is awesome, but it leaves my lips so blotchy! The pigment settles in certain spots so it looks like I have dots all over my lips. And this is after like five minutes. Politely discard.

Benefit Benetint - $28.00
Don't get me wrong, Benefit is a great brand. Love their products. But Benetint? And it's lighter sister, Posietint, too.. crap. Benetint delivers a pretty berry color, but the consistency is all wrong. It's too watery, so you have to keep layering it to get any color. Then, when it's actually applied, it comes off after you rub your lips a few times. Believe me, I've tried wearing it during my shifts at work. So disappointing. I like it much better as a cheek tint, but this is not a post on cheek tints! Sorry, Benetint, you didn't make the cut.

And now for the keepers.
STASH

Smashbox Limitless Lip Stain - $23.00
This is by far the best lip stain I've ever tried. I put it on every day before my 6 hour shift and it seriously lasts almost the whole time. It comes in six shades. I wear Guava, a coral-orange color. It's great because it applies like a marker (so it's easy), and then the opposite end is a tinted lip balm to keep your lips moisturized. I like to experiment with layering different lip glosses on top too!

Here's my testimony -

STILL on my hand from showing customers the different shades. After hand sanitizers, brush cleaners, and tissue wiping -- this lip stain is no joke! Yes, it's a splurge for us cheap-y's who stick with drug-store makeup. However, I feel like it's well worth the money because you don't have to keep reapplying! I'm definitely considering this for my next pay check.

DISCLAIMER - make sure that you store the marker tip facing downward, because it will dry out faster when it's facing up.

Love you all xo!
